Okay...Question Time!

What is the one common factor in a majority of success stories?

It is no secret that successful individuals can come from all kinds of backgrounds and different walks of life, but what binds them together? What is that common factor..? Is it Skill? Or perhaps Attitude…? You may think Luck plays a heavy role, or even Fate. And maybe you’re right! However I personally feel that there is one contributing factor that is far too overlooked. Its use and influence in success has been present since the stone age…literally since day 1. It is something that is relevant regardless of race, language, age, gender or even species. It is something that will be prevalent for as long as humans (or any animal species) are in existence.

The Importance Of A Great Team In The Work Place!

When you think about working in recruitment sales, you are probably thinking high pressurised environment, working to KPIs’, targets and phones ringing non stop! You are probably also thinking that the single most important thing is to come in to work hit your number and go home without much consideration for anything else. Now whilst reaching targets and being successful is what we come to work for, since joining CPI Selection it has taught me that working within a great team is just as important to achieve success!

I’ve previously worked for organisations where the pressures of hitting targets and KPI’s has pushed people to their limits and resulted in tensions in the work place and a team attitude being nonexistent!

The C* Word

Why it is appropriate and why we should start using the ‘C’ word more often:

If the headline has drawn you in I should explain, I am writing this blog as a specialist recruiter and I am not looking to cause any offence; the C word in question is …Consultant!

In a world where recruitment plays such an integral role to all businesses, getting it wrong can be incredibly painful and costly. Ask any football fan during the transfer window! However, despite the importance and clear value of quality recruitment, the recruitment industry’s reputation is fast deteriorating from the Car-Sales/ Estate Agency levelling to as popular as a PPI Sales approach.

BUT Why? Recruitment as a sector has grown in size, revenue and importance. There are thousands more Recruiters trending towards specialist sector recruitment as opposed to the geographic high street ‘one size fits all' approach. Surely things should be improving, right?

So, what is the root of the problem, for me in starts in the title... When I started out in Recruitment many years ago there was an emphasis on that C word.

Recruiters now seem to be just working vacancies, not acting as Recruitment Consultants and not acting as specialists.
